About Me

For almost 20 years I have contributed to the procurement sector in both government and the private sector; working across indirect and direct procurement areas, policy, process and change management. Specialising in procurement strategy and governance, I have delivered procurement policy, processes, analysis, and training at organisational and business unit levels across a number of organisations.

I am passionate about improving procurement practices to achieve positive outcomes for organisations and staff responsible for procurement activities.

I am an experienced procurement change agent, developing, implementing, reviewing and revising change activities, ensuring key business outcomes are achieved. Identifying the key challenges affecting an organisation, then developing and conceptualising strategies to improve performance; providing well-supported advice on initiatives to improve overall business outcomes.

I am driven to incorporate ethical decision-making considerations in procurement activities, protecting people and the planet wherever possible while continuing to meet business drivers. I have a great personal interest in the 'ethical supply chain' and working with suppliers to achieve organisational ethical aims AND to improve supply practices..

This role provided authoritative policy and process advice and reporting to the Department of Justice Ministers, the Justice Executive Committee, Audit and Risk Management Committee, the Vic Govt Purchasing Board and Dept of Treasury strategic procurement related matters. As a member of the senior leadership team, this role was significant in providing input into government wide policy initiatives.

Provided policy and process oversight of $1.5-2 billion pa of goods and services procurement across 55 business units, including prison facilities, courts, corporate facilities and Justice service centres.

Developed and implemented departmental Sustainable Procurement Policy and associated reporting and performance measurement for the department. Increased awareness of environmental procurement and achieved a 15 per cent increase (to 43 per cent) in the purchase of environmentally sustainable alternatives for office products, attracting substantial rebates for the department.

Developed and delivered an accredited basic procurement training package across all business units across the Department of Justice, and a computer based Executive Induction Package. Over 200 staff members trained to date.

Clarification and simplification of operational procurement processes, including clarification of roles and responsibilities across the entire procurement lifecycle. Development and implementation of a one-stop self-service procurement toolbox for the department with 500,000 page views in the first year.

Conducted thorough analysis of the department’s spending, identifying areas of opportunity. Both hard and soft savings opportunities addressed, with considerable savings achieved in several high profile areas, with an estimated savings value of up to 20 per cent of total spend across all divisions.

Developed and commenced implementation of strategic procurement program which would enable the department to harness efficiencies highlighted in the spend analysis
