About Me

Accomplished professional with over 30 years business experience in public and private procurement. Extensive portfolio of complex projects completed on time & within budget. Clients: a major university hospital, international airport, convention center, and city & county government agencies. Major projects typically included use of state & federal grant funds or funding via public-private partnerships.
I am interested in promoting earthquake early warning systems because of their demonstrated ability to protect lives and property. I was directly involved in one of the earliest installations, (fire stations), in Palm Springs, California.
I have an article in "The Public Manager" , summer 2015 edition on making public procurement more strategic. Here is the link:

Procurement Pros Group, LLC

November 2012 - Present

Procurement, like many things in life, can only be valued if its contributions and potential are understood. In many organizations these are understood well. Businesses cannot achieve full potential value without Procurement and Procurement cannot achieve full value without "C-suite" level support from the business. To earn that support, Procurement must owe its first allegiance to collaborative participation the development of the overall business strategy and goals. Procurement must become "more strategic" and less process driven. Cost is, and will remain important, but other factors should be included and carefully weighed to secure outcomes optimally beneficial to the overall organization. The Procurement Pros Group is dedicated to helping procurement departments become "more strategic". One of the key components is collaboratively defining the "value" of goods and services to be acquired,, with input of stakeholders in the "outcomes", and with the overall mission and goals of the organization constantly in mind.
The "Procurement Pros" group on Linkedin was created as a forum for procurement professional and stakeholders in outcomes to share information and ideas.
