Hamish started his working life as a shift metallurgist in a tin mine on the west coast of Tasmania and finished it with a corner office on Park Avenue in Manhattan as VP People and Communication for the world's largest metals company, Alcoa Inc. He was fortunate to gain extensive experience in managing operating facilities including mineral sands plants, a rolling mill, smelter, refinery and chemicals plants together with marketing and sales through Australia, Asia, Africa and New Zealand. In his final role, he had responsibility for executive compensation, executive development, selection of executives, government affairs as well as internal and external communication for corporate Alcoa.
Hamish is now retired and spends most of his time with family and friends including sailing his yacht around the east coast of Australia. He writes a business column for the Business Times in Melbourne and does selective consulting work.
