When you are too experienced!!!!

I am sure you have been there before ...we loved your experience and relevancy for the role but we feel you would be constrained or not sufficently challenged. I am contemplating relocating to another part of the world and considered that I may need too enter in a managerial role rather than at Director level role to increase the number of opportunities that I can apply for. Plus I want to make myself atttractive and competetive. This may be backfiring as a number of potential employers seem to worry about me being too experienced... Do I dumb down my resume? I have tried elaborating on my reasons for the desired reloaction being life style driven as well as career but no succss to date. Is it wise to dumb down my resume? Views and opinions welcomed
