What's the average number of vendors procurement teams have on their books?

The more conversations I'm having the more I'm hearing about organizations having a TON of vendors on their books, & some may not even be adding value. i.e. the company is paying for a service they are not receiving. Is there a true initiative out there for companies to consolidate vendors & contracts?
