Over the last few years organisations have focused on analysing their spend, reorganising their Procurement functions (central vs local), working with suppliers and investing in procurement technologies. This has made a valuable contribution to organisations, yet one vital area has been overlooked; the capabilities and soft skills of the people in the Procurement team. PA Consulting is leading the way in research on the softer skills that the Procurement function require in order to add further value to an organisation. Without the people and strong soft skills all of the above initiatives fall far from delivering their full potential and this leaves a considerable value gap which can inhibit organisational growth. As a first step in our research we have created a survey so that we can determine the views of the Procurement community.
