Shifting career from logistics to procurement in a new country. Where does one begin?
My background -
I represent a 3PL and currently hold a position of Director-Operations in a company which handles the supply chain from the port until last mile transport distribution.
In my current role the key responsibilities include Strategy, P&L, Business development, Client relations and overall operations control. This includes managing vendors, contracts (sub-contractors).
My exposure has been in warehousing, freight forwarding, customs clearance and transportation.
For personal reasons, I am moving to another country (NZ) and considering procurement as a career option. I am committed to CIPS qualifications and will be appearing for the Diploma level.
With no prior experience in procurement, how does one begin?
