Itemized cost tracking for stock SKU's

Looking for a lower level tool/method to track and manage stocked component parts. Overall spend tracking is not difficult but monitoring monthly spend (compared to previous purchase) has proven difficult. I am responsible for 2000 stock SKU's so need something more macro (compared to PO level) on monthly level but lower level than financials provided at monthly or quarterly close. Any ideas would be helpful!
