IT Procurement Professionals: What resources did you find helpful to obtain a strong knowledge base within the IT Category (Software, Hardware, Services, SAAS, SLAs)?

My manager has communicated that he will be transferring the management of our organization IT category to me in the near future. I have done solicitations for services and software within my existing categories, but not purely for IT. I would appreciate any knowledge or resources you can share.
