Is procurement really THAT complex?

This is my Wednesday Wrinkle... I'd like to get your thoughts on our role in the profession. Looking from the outside back in on my 7 years, it struck me this morning how simplistic our role is... but often how complex things become for ourselves. So it got me thinking, are we guilty of being TOO professional at times? - Are we guilty of over-complicating simple sourcing strategy at times? - Do we alienate colleagues & stakeholders at times with our techniques & terminology? - Could we do more to empower colleagues to buy better, unaided? What do you think?
