How did you get involved in Procurement?

In my previous question about talent deficits in Procurement (https://www.procurious.com/discussion/is-there-a-talent-deficit-in-procurement-), one great response echoed something I've heard often in my career as a Procurement recruiter: that people tend to "fall into" Procurement instead of setting the field as a career goal from the outset. Which got me to thinking... how common is this, exactly? I'm interested to hear your stories about how you got involved in the Procurement field in the first place - and if you didn't "fall into" Procurement, what drew you to it?
