Health and safety in procurement?

Here at ARA we're working on some products to assist both procurement professionals and their suppliers to manage health and safety risks at all stages of procurement, and meet their legal obligations. What are the biggest gaps/risks you see in the way suppliers address health and safety during both the initial engagement and during the actual supply? How do you manage these currently?
