Hands up who uses Excel supplier approval/onboarding forms?!
In the 12 or so years I've worked in the procurement domain, I'm struggling to recollect any companies that have onboarded us via a designated supplier onboarding tool. It seems nearly everyone uses Excel forms and email! Are you one of them?
Why is this?! We're nearly in 2017, where cars can drive themselves and many of our electronic devices can speak to you!
Surely procurement folk deserve a better way to make the whole process more efficient, more auditable and more intelligent.
Almost all sales teams have a CRM (like Salesforce). Almost all marketing teams have an email campaign tool (like Mailchimp). Almost all accountants have an accountancy tool (like QuickBooks). Why can't all procurement teams have their own designated tools? They're not expensive, e.g. ours is £5k a year, but they do massively help.
Very interested to hear your thoughts!
